I’m sharing my story because I am so incredibly frustrated!

So both of my parents had their own Etsy stores that were decently successful. I had my own that I had just started a little less than a year ago. My dad was selling these digital downloads that you can use to print on vinyl and what not. He was designing them himself and some of them he was using sports logos within his design. He got a few copy right infringement notices because of the sports logos so he would slightly change them. In the end he was definitely in the wrong and I’m not denying that! The problem is that when he got banned from Etsy so did my mom and I.... we were both making our own hand made items. I’ve never once received any sort of warnings nor did she. We each had our own social security numbers and bank accounts linked to our separate accounts but the one thing that was the same was our addresses.

I received an email from Etsy basically saying I’m suspended and they didn’t tell me why. I’ve just assumed that it’s because we share our address with the person that actually violated Etsy’s terms. What really upsets me is that I have emailed Etsy at least 3 times asking for an explanation and every time they respond saying they will not speak to me on the matter.... what?!? So I’ve also requested a phone call (because you have to request to speak to them, you can’t just call customer support) about 3 times now, haven’t received one. I don’t even live at my parents address anymore! I’ve just been to lazy to change it. I was hoping to get a chance to talk to them over the phone about this so I could explain myself.

I’m so shocked and upset with the way they handle things. I’m not even able to purchase from other sellers anymore...

Tried to use the Ebay global shipping program for the first time and sold a printer. Buyer agreed to a price with shipping but only paid a portion of the total. Ebay would not let me ship because payment was incomplete. Buyer got mad at me for not shipping but Ebay never let me have the address. Spent days on the phone trying to resolve and tried to be a good seller by keeping the buyer updated on the situation. Buyer refused to correct the payment and I ultimately opened a case in Ebay for non-payment since that was the only way to cancel this problematic order. I won the case and the order was cancelled and the buyer refunded. Then the buyer then opened a second case in Paypal to get his/her money back twice. Paypal automatically sided with the buyer and ignored any proof I sent them about the already settled case in Ebay. Paypal stole money out of my account to give to the buyer who I am convinced did all this on purpose to get double their money back. It was a trick from the beginning and Paypal fell for it. This scam artist got away scott free and I have a negative account balance which I refuse to pay because I should not have to. I was in the right and I wasted a ton of my time. I do NOT owe them anything but Paypal has sent the balance they stole to multiple collection agencies.

"Went to grab dinner. He comments on me ordering pizza in an Italian restaurant. (I don't often eat meat, only veggie thing was pizza.) He comments on me eating pizza with knife and fork. He comments on me not wearing enough make-up (only mascara, even though I wore zero make-up in profile pics). I politely ask about his work. He explains what he does as if he's talking to a 4 year old, even though he knows I'm doing two master degrees and did Biology at my finals.

Throughout the date [he] kept explaining stuff to me as if I'm in kindergarten. Doesn't ask anything about me but long monologues about himself. I decline getting another drink and leave. Dodge his kiss and give him a peck on the cheek instead. On my way home I get a text asking if I'm sure I don't want a kiss."  - Reddit user eCaisteal

I worked at GameStop as a ASM and SM for 4-ish years. I have SO many stories of creepy, scary and rude customers.

Some highlights:

I once got asked out on a date at the register. I'm young, and naive, and awkward, and I kind of stop in my tracks and tell him that I'm working and I can't answer that. I work another 4 hours or so and close by myself, and he was waiting in the parking lot for me to leave.

I had a family that would bring their son in every Saturday. They explained to me that he had severe autism, and he was non-verbal. No problem, except they would stand in a corner and text or whatever while he'd knock over stands, rip things from walls, and even run behind the counter and try to bite you. I had to get permission to ban them from the store, but I was tired of trying to not get bit.

Edit (for some clarification) :

-just because a customer was awkward does not mean to me that they were "creepy", this guy was a special case, hence why I wrote about it. I met friends I will always love when they were customers, I met people I worked with in the gaming industry in other capacities, I met my ex, etc.

-i am about to get my degree to specifically work and study children with disabilities. I have no problem being kind and patient with anyone, including children, but I don't want to be bit by a kid that I have no way to protect myself (or my employees) from.

-if y'all could stop sending me hate mail about being a nervous 19 year old kid with a 40 year old man leaning on her car at night, that would be awesome.

Website about a girl with amputated legs and arms for sale, picture was real. Full story;

In my defense i was 12 on my first PC looking at Youtube guys browsing the dark web without showing the content so yeah, curiosity killed the cat. Sorry for this being way too long but i had to give all the details;

I remember hearing about Hitmen you can hire and such. This one guy said in the video there was a website with a girl without arms and legs that was for sale, i just had to see it. Just like i had to see 2 girls 1 cup and 1 man 1 horse or whatever and the guy who got fucked by a horse.

I checked out the drug sites, hitmen sites, etc. I felt rebellious and cool, my adrenaline went straight up which made me go deeper and deeper, untill i found what caught my attention in the first place;

I found the website with the girl, they were right. There was a picture of a girl with amputated arms and legs in chains in a basement, the picture looked fairly new so she was still around the same age when i saw the picture, she was white; it felt more personal since i’m from Norway and girls in my school were for the most part white, usually when you hear about things like that it’s girls from 3/2nd world countries. (Not that it’s less bad if someone is from those countries but i hope you get my point)

My vision got all blurry and i felt sick, the thought that i went on the website they made, that if i had the resources i could buy the person. It’s different from when you find fucked up pics on a forum or whatever. This was the source, it was still up just waiting for someone to purchase. I could send a message to the guy/guys then and there, they were right around the corner.

The feeling of knowing something fucked up that almost no one else knows about and you can’t do anything about it, that makes you feel responsible and sorta personally involved. You want fucked up shit to be well known, “famous”, it depersonalizes the thing. 2 girls 1 cup is a good example.

She was still there, in hell, and i know about it. The picture wasn’t fake, that i know atleast. It might be a fake website and it might be a well known thing now. It was the feeling of it being real that was fucked up, for all i know it was. I deleted Tor and never went on again, i don’t recommend it.

I am a mother of six young children, and my husband is legally blind. My husband was diagnosed with a rare eye condition called cone dystrophy 12 years ago, which is a type of central vision loss. One year later he was laid off due to the recession and lost not only a job but his career to his poor sight. We started a shop on Etsy in 2010 and found much success over the last 10 years. We've tried several other venues over the years but expertise was on the Etsy platform. We were able to employ 12 contracted employees to allow other local mothers to work from their homes.

Etsy saved my family, it gave us the privilege of providing for ourselves despite our circumstances. I've always supported Etsy, I have always followed their rules and guidelines. So imagine my shock when my shop of Ten years was permanently suspended on February 13th.

I had no warning of this, and the email Etsy Trust & Safety provided was vague and only led to more questions than answers.

We frantically tried to email Etsy Trust & Safety as instructed with no luck. We called Etsy support several times, but every time the customer service verified our account, they read a written message and hung up on us.

This was our sole income, so this situation is devastating to my family. To make matters worse, Etsy locked up hundreds of dollars in my account, leaving me unable to use Etsy shipping labels. They continued to run ads and collect funds from my deactivated listings, winding those locked up funds down to nothing. So the orders tied up there are my loss as I still will be loyal to my customers.

They also used my images on their ads on Facebook to drive traffic to Etsy. I also have hundreds of thousands of Pinterest pins that have had the URL locked so it could not be changed to my new site but rather continually funnel traffic to Etsy. That ultimately puts me in competition with my own images.

Out of desperation, and posting my story to my Instagram page, I have found my account flooded with countless stories of sellers in the same boat. After several days of high activity and no contact from Etsy, I received a message from the Senior Director of Etsy Trust & Safety. She informed me that one of her team members would send me an email.

After checking our email, the only explanation was that we were closed down over 2 cases and 2 low reviews. I am still shocked, I am a high volume seller, I was just shy of 30,000 sales and 5,544 5-star reviews. They gave me previous dates of contact over the last 4 years. After searching through the email these "said emails" went to, I was only able to find one automated email in November, I was not able to find any other such emails, this email has nearly 500,000 emails, as it is the email for my Etsy account.

I highly doubt my shop was reviewed by a human as Etsy Trust & Safety claims, as any human would see that I reached out and worked with each customer for each low review and case. All cases were closed in my favor or by the buyer themselves and many cases resulted in 5-star reviews.

Many buyers admitted they thought the case system was the only way to contact the seller. Does this not prove my success in customer service? Most of the women coming to me with similar stories were never able to contact Etsy or never received an answer. So they are coming to me, simply to be heard.

I don't know where to take this, I feel as if Etsy has become a huge machine that has been programmed to eliminate every shop on Etsy.

Thanks for your time.
